Ah. I some good news and some bad, mate. Davy Jones' locker always be seekin' newcomers and the more money those clowns at port put into guns, the harder it be for a sailor like yourself. Many other concerns like hitting shoals and losing crew take a seasman's dreams of red-heads away quickier than you can yell "GANGHO!" Here be some examples..

There are many outcomes in the game that can lead to infliction of wounds, losing ships, money, prestige, time, and similarly horrible things that pirates don't care to think about.

Shoals near land mean instant destruction to big ships and smaller vessels can also sometimes suffer the same fate. Keep away from sailing too close or else ye be seeking death.

Keeping crew morale up with sufficient food and plunder is a must! If enough crew members hot tail out and you cannot command a ship, you'll be landlocked until someone comes to the rescue; usually wasting a string of months and prestige.

Those scurvy pigs you once called "your crew" can also break away with loot and ships, leaving you stranded.

Also if you lose a mutiny, sea battle, or a fencing match with another captain you'll end up on shore waiting for rescue with the same results as above.

Visiting town taverns one too many times can lead to noblesmen taking advantage of your "high spirits". They'll force you to become a crew member on a ship. It will take months to get off and somehow put together another crew again. The Sea Lesson for today is: stop getting drunk!

If you're spared as a prisoner when you lose a town battle, your sea life is put at a standstill and in bars. All of your men will abandon you as captain, power and prestige can be lost, and wounds are inflicted to affect overall happiness and length of your pirating career.

Dead men tell no tales. Remember that to the grave!
