In all towns you have the options to divide the plunder to the crew, further your career and options, or retire for good.

In the new window that appears after choosing 'Divide up the plunder', you have the choices to plan a new expedition, retire for good, or up the game's difficulty level.

Retiring for good tallies up the stats of gold, land, title ranking, and happiness for one overall score.

Adding in all of the above factors, you will end up with one of twenty-five job titles. This spells out your final position in life.
