Full Name : Michael Joseph Martin Banks
Birth Place : Philly, PA, USA
Birthdate: 8/26
Sex: Male
Nationality: 75% Irish and 25% Everything Else
Favorite Color: Red
Eye Color: Hazel
Habits: Biting finger nails, doodling, ranting, examining my soul, voodoo, streaking, writing bios of myself, and so on and so forth

Systems You Own Besides NES: 2600, 7800, GB, SMS, FDS, SNES, Gene, GG, Sat, N64, PSX, GBC, DC, PS2, GBA, GC, DS (How you like them acronym apples?)

How and When You Got Your NES: I got mine in '88, after watching my cousin play Super Mario Bros for hours. (The underwater music had me in a trance.) I pleaded for one and since I was the spoiled only child back then, soon thereafter I had my own.

Favorite Hobbies: I am a big animation buff. I'm the kind of "diverse" (for the lack of a better word) person that sees the genius behind both Miyazaki works and a typical episode of Spongebob Squarepants. My favorite childhood 'toon is the lean, green, fighting machines - Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles. My favorite animated movie is a toss up between Princess Mononoke and The Little Mermaid (which is my favorite Disney film--don't laugh, I have a thing for the sea and singing crustaceans with Caribbean accents).

Besides animation, I'm also a fan of documentaries, especially the works of Errol Morris and those dealing with political or religious people.

I am an avid writer, as you may have picked up on, and am currently pursuing an undergraduate degree in English.

My other interests include psychology, and para-psychology (ya know, ghost busting), decorating, and collecting vinyls, little ceramic houses made in China, and Boston Terrier paintings.

Unique DVD Movies You Own that Define Your Collection: A-Team Season Sets, Baraka, Freaks & Geeks, Hell House, Song of the South, most Walt Disney Treaures, and just about every good Coen Brothers picture

Most Embarrasing DVD Movies You Own: A.L.F., Clarissa Explains It All, All of the Leprechaun films, MacGyver Season Sets, Puppet Master I-V, Suburban Commando, An Obscene Amount of B-Movies (MST3K, Ed Wood Collection, Bela Lugosi, Roger Corman/Vincent Price), And About 500 hours of Trading Spaces on DVD.

TV Shows: The Daily Show, Real Time, Unsolved Mysteries, Arrested Development, 30 Days, Intervention

Strangest Material Possession: a Galoob Mr. T doll (in box).

Why Start NES Player.com in the First Place?

Ever get the feeling that life is moving at neck-breaking speeds? I have, and so I wished to return to the "good times" as a regular kid playing my generation's most beloved (and blasted) past time: the Nintendo. Before getting the idea to start the site, I was impressed by the closed-knit NES scene community and decided that I would like to contribute to it. Years later, as you can see, it's still going, but this time much less in interaction with the messageboard community and more for a love of video games (and out of habit).

What is with this fixation of the character Error from Zelda II: The Adventure of Link?

I am Error.

What's with the Paranoid "Liberal" Spin in Some of Your Writings?

They've been less than subtle, I presume? The secret is out then; I tend to think I'm very open-minded but I do tend to sway to the "left" of the spectrum on many issues (I would prefer the word "progressive"). That's not to say I'm not more conservative on some things than others, though. I can agree with conservatives on one thing at least: most Democrat politicians are a spineless bunch.

What Makes You Feel Alive with the Sound of Music?

Watching/reading a thought-provoking movie or book. Having intelligent debates with people. Yard sailing and antiquing. Making use of my brain but not forgetting I can't live without a heart either.

What Gets Your Blood Running And Makes You Say, "I'm Mad As Hell And I'm Not Going to Take It Anymore!"

Journalists. Politicians. Extremists. The Roman Catholic Church. (Ho-hah!) Modern Video Game Sequels. Hollywood. Corporate Greed. Credit Card Companies. Outsourcing. (I'm a hateful little man, tell me something I don't know!)
