Beetlejuice

Much like the Ghostbusters craze, Beetlejuice (directed by Tim Burton, a man of all things bleak) stirred plenty of its own craze when fresh in movie-goer's minds. The phenomenon began as a blockbuster movie starring Michael Keaton, followed by shelves of merchandise, airing cartoons on Nickelodeon television, and finally travelled all the way to the NES. Just as a quick info session about BJ: Beetlejuice is a comical "dead guy" that can be summoned from the after life by saying his name three times. He goes back and forth to the Netherworld and real life portals. Did I mention he's also dead?

BJ for the NES is nothing like the movie. It would actually be more accurate to say the the title's more based on the cartoon series due to the very intended "cartoon-ish look" and game physics. However, BJ is not your usual adapted cartoon side scrolling/adventure-type game. Quite the opposite as the interesting quests, like going to and fro areas first collecting a 'book of the recently deceased' required in order to buy stuff from a shrinked head man would suggest. Is that enough craziness for one video game title to handle? Of course not, this is Beetlejuice we're talking about it! The enemies in the game are equally scarily weird. Still with all of the "uniqueness" floating around, the game drags once you see the continue screen A LOT more times than you'd like to admit (even to a significant other...or momma).

Beetlejuice..Beetlejuice.....BEETLEJUI- ACHOOOOOOOOOO!
