Friday the 13th

Numero siete happens to be Friday the 13th in a supposedly straight "movie-to-game" port. Don't really get married to that term, though, because it's really only as much a movie-to-game comparison as in the likes of Jaws for NES. Friday has but only the main villain and the trademark creepy camp scenery from the film to fall back on. That's about it. Both games include simple, wandering tasks. They share the same requirements of defeating one main boss which must be weakened along your way. But most horrifying in similarity of all is that both titles were put out by the dreaded LJN company. AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!

Critics of the game seem to fall into two categories: (1) take what I like to call the "Yo! Noid approach," meaning they either love it or hate it or (2) they love to hate it. I think my opinion lies smack dab in the middle of the two, seeing that parts of the game I really admire like the time-elapsing aspect and the sneak surprise attacks of Jason that will startle even the most hardcore gamer. Whereas there are just as many faults such as the complete repetition, ridiculously long amount of time needed to defeat the game as a novice, and Jason's extreme difficulty. I suggest trying to look past these hinderances and take it upon yourself to play 13th.

Sleep tight...for we all know Jason goes to hell. Chee chee chee.
