3. Mad Max

This happens to be the second movie-based game that has made the list (not counting Jekyll and Hyde since that was based on *ahem* a book). It just goes to show that most games based on movies aren't very good. Mad Max is one of the more obscure games on the Nes, and it's for good reason too. It had some really good ideas, but each and every one of them is extremely difficult. You start the game out by driving around the wastelands in your car, trying to get a ticket so you can enter the arena. There's another mode where you go inside warehouses and play as Max himself. The problem with Mad Max is that to keep going you have to find food and gas. The wasteland is very, very difficult to map, so it's almost impossible to stay alive long enough to go onto the next level. After wandering around long enough, the game will lose it's appeal and you'll probably end up setting it aside for a long, long time. Overall, Mad Max is a game that was completely ruined by bad balance.
