QVC Television Promotion of Power Joy II - Source: nesplayer.com exclusive
A televised shopping network showcasing a pirate NES system this Holiday season ('02)? Correct you are. The Power Joy II is bundled with a Famicom-sized cart holding 94 games (no repeats) and comes with 2 controllers, one of which has a noticeable outward pointed sight to mimic the Zapper. There 'ain't more than 2 or 3 games out of the bunch actually worth playing--the case of many multi-game systems of this sort out there.

The funniest part of the segment (which, unfortunately, is not shown in the footage) was when a woman called up and said that she bought this $29.14 (introductory price!) hunk of junk in place of what her kid really wanted--a Playstation 2. Boy is that kid going to be pissed come Christmas morning! I hope Dad preserves the precise moment on home video of when little Johnny snaps and goes ape shit on the hizzouse. I wouldn't mind seeing that.

All in all, it's a pretty funny clip worth checking out. (Also take note: the English gentleman from the UK is a dolt.) 1.49 Minutes / 2.95 MB

Video Power Intro - Source: JD from myrmid.com
Tough-ass, Vanilla Ice-esque rap songs have always been the most entertaining and hilarious for me when it comes down to listening to music tracks from the Eighties/Ninetes. And speaking of which, the show introduction to the once-popular video gaming television show "Video Power" displays the same aforementioned musical formula complete with the lyrical "talent" from an angry white gameshow host and a hotly formulaic urban woman chorus. No other collaboration could hope to achieve that ultimate corniness tone heard only in this sweet eighties track. So have a listen...Homes. Thanks to JD (myrmid.com) for the video capture!

Front loading NES NP advertisement - Scan: NES player
A magazine ad showing off the new and improved re-release of the NES. It was shown in a few issues of NP, with an "unbelievably low price" of $50, as well as the re-modeling of the controller and a much needed top loading version to erase those hideous blinking screens.

NESter Funky Bowling - Scan: eBay
The very same lovable Nintendo Power mascot got his very own bowling game?! If you've never heard of it before, 'Funky Bowling' was released on the lost Virtual Boy system that Nintendo wants to blank out from their otherwise impressive history. Check out the cart scan.

Action 52 - SEGA Genesis / Mega Drive - Scan: eBay
Action 52 is well known to most NES fans for including utterly useless 52 games (led on to victory by the Cheetamen) on one cart but did you know this garbage was also transferred to other systems too? This is a scan of the SEGA Genesis/Mega Drive version.

World Championships 1990 Cartridge - Scan: eBay
The rarest NES game cart of them all - only 90 were given away as awards to winners of the Nintendo World Championships and 26 others through a Nintendo Power promotion. This eBay auction started at $500 and ended with a total of 18 bids for a final bid of $1,626.

NESter's final comic featured in NP issue 100 - Scan: NES player
Nintendo Power released a new (and possibly the last) NESter comic to celebrate their 100th issue on September 1997. The explanation for NESter's absence was blamed on the account of him attending college. The comic character (which didn't show any of his noticeable trademark know-it-all traits) was shown trying the N64 for the first time along with its 'Star Fox 64' rumble pack. Unforunately Nintendo did not think it would be important to include their past president of their fan club, Howard Phillips, along for old time's sake. Could it be because Mr. Phillips has a job at Microsoft now?

3-D NES Renderings - By: Lyman Johnson
Maya is the software they used to create Gollum from Lord of the Rings. I'm taking a graphics course this semester, and this is my midterm project, the Nintendo Zapper. In case there's any doubt, these are NOT photos, these are computer-generated images that I designed myself, from scratch.

Counter Fonts

Xexyz Font
VGWS Counters
My first counter font, and perhaps my favorite. I think it had a unique touch by showcasing Apollo's vehicles(though I did leave out the platform one as it was far too tall, and had to include the miniboss as #0 to even it out). -Lisker

Vice: Project Doom Font
VGWS Counters
I think I made the sprites far too small with this one... -Lisker

Whomp Em Font
VGWS Counters
This is a great font, I think, with the appropriately-sized sprites and numbers, making it a true gem. -Lisker

Ninja Gaiden Font

The first of my Ninja Gaiden fonts, and one of my all-time faves.
